The provider of IP addresses to the Asia Pacific region has activated a major change in the way it allocates them after becoming the first registry to deplete its number of older addresses to fewer than 17 million.

APNIC said the depletion of all but its final /8 block of addresses was a “key turning point in IPv4 exhaustion” meant that it was no longer able to meet current demand for the older addresses. As a result, the registry has immediately instituted a draconian rationing plan that will limit both the number of IPs issued and the organizations that are eligible to receive them.

So for the network savvy on here is this going to be a real problem across Europe in a few years?

Your IPv4 address on the public internet appears to be 86.13.173.110

No IPv6 address detected [more info]

World IPv6 day is June 8th, 2011. No problems are anticipated for you with this browser, at this location. [more info]

You appear to be able to browse the IPv4 internet only. You will not be able to reach IPv6-only sites.

Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have no access to the IPv6 internet, or is not configured to use it. This may in the future restrict your ability to reach IPv6-only sites. [more info]

Your readiness scores.
10/10 for your IPv4 stability and readiness, when publishers offer both IPv4 and IPv6
0/10 for your IPv6 stability and readiness, when publishers are forced to go IPv6 only

Does this mean the world, will in fact end in 2012?

I got:

Your IPv6 address on the public internet appears to be 2001:0:5ef5:79fd:2024:1326:affc:97dc
Your IPv6 service appears to be: Teredo

World IPv6 day is June 8th, 2011. No problems are anticipated for you with this browser, at this location. [more info]

But then it says
Quote:
You appear to be able to browse the IPv4 internet only. You will not be able to reach IPv6-only sites.

Your IPv6 connection appears to be using Teredo, a type of IPv4/IPv6 gateway; currently it connects only to direct IP's. Your browser will not be able to go to IPv6 sites by name. This means the current configuration is not useful for browsing IPv6 web sites.

Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have no access to the IPv6 internet, or is not configured to use it. This may in the future restrict your ability to reach IPv6-only sites.

So, slightly confusing :D Why it can't just be one big green TICK if you're fine for when it is IPv6 only, or a big assed red CROSS if not!

Now I'm wondering though... all those scripts, all the bans, all the IP checks already in place on IP V 4. All redundant? Is IPv6 day going to be a tards day in heaven as they'll be able to access things they've been IP banned from previously?
