Just upgraded my computer (if you hadn't known, i've told enough people about it), and in keeping with our workplaces philosophy of checking how they perform, I thought I'd post a thread about it.

Passmark test - free, small, quick to use, informative.

People can post their specs and the mark they get. Better yet, once you've taken the test - you can select "save as baseline", and attach to the forum. Others can download your baseline (many many of them), and then add baselines to their own scores, to directly compare how yours/theirs matched up in performance areas. So you can download others baselines, add it to the location of some default ones (make sure you name yours something easy for others to find) and then select all the baselines you wish to add :) Then click okay, and view the results all next to each other.

Whilst not the most indepth test, it gives an idea and is quick/easy to perform without half a gig downloads etc.

Anyway, the passmark test:
http://www.passmark.com/products/pt.htm

It's free for 14 days or 30 or something.

My baseline:
http://www.artificiallyintelligent.co.u ... kesHome.pt

My score was:
929.5

My Rig:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
ATI X1950 Pro 256Mb GFX
2Gb Giel ultra memory
Mobo P5k Asus
(you can see info by going to Baseline -> baseline information).

To run test, go to Tests-> Run all tests

(my old computer, before the upgrade, scored 198!!!)

Feel free to add your own scores if you feel like it, otherwise the thread may descend into oblivion :D

The easy way is to copy and paste people's baseliens into your passmark folder for your own baseline - which is usually my documents/passmark/performance test.

Just drop their baselines in there, and you can then just go to Baseline -> Select Baseline

You'll see a few default ones, your own and any other you've pasted in. Select each one, and click add etc. Click okay to view comparison :)

Tjolbi, your gfx card appears better than mine :D Whatcha got?

As for CPU, it's on a special offer - 117 quid for the chip i got ;)

i've got the core 2 duo 6600, xfx 8800gtx, ddr2 2gig ram, a rather crappy dvd burner it seems  and a decent enough hard drive :)

i think there's something wrong with my drivers/i've installed too much crap though as some people get around 200 fps on css for instance, mine's at 100 :?

but since it's still more than great i cba to check it ^^
