righty then, im doin this at a request from a friend, he's having trouble with his USB modem workin with linux
here's the details he gave me

Its a Speedtouch 300 modem
He's on Tiscali Home package
And using Ubuntu 6.10 Edgeyeft

He says he's tried using it on wine but it jus aint happenin

Dont know whether it is jus not recognising the modem or whether it is but it jus aint lettin him connect, i think its the latter.

Any ideas would rele help him out
cheers skrunk

Maybe upgrading to feisty might help, there should be drivers out there for this distro?

Hmm the ubuntu forums will probably have something?

Try this :

Your better off burning that modem and getting a router tho :)

Have they even written a driver for that modem? I'd consider a new modem with an ethernet port.

There is a driver in the kernel for it, you just need to play with the ppp config. I still don't understand why people try and make hardware work through WINE, its just silly, but yes the linked wiki page about speedtouch is what is needed.
