This was a computer system built by a paint company called max meyer which originally cost around £30,000 new. Designed purely for matching colours of paints.
Ours finally packed in yesterday and i had massively good fun smashing it into little pieces!
Never knew obliterating £30k worth of computer could be so satisfying :P

Bit limited on searching for any pics until i get online, phone aint the best thing for it.
Basically you are looking at a unit which was about 17 years old, stood about 6 feet tall and around 3 feet square. It had an old 286 or 386 or something based acer pc built in, a black and white monitor, paint weighing scales and a nasty touch pad keyboard thing at the top above the monitor. Then there was a box which pulled out on a cable which you held against the sample you wanted to match and it printed the formulation out on a little printer of the old heat sensitive type of paper.
Probably belonged in a museum to be honest but it was in my way and i was bored

30K for a 286 though, I'd sell um a pentium for 20K if they are interested. Ya I know.

Forgot to add that my company may aswell still be in the 1970's.
Everything we do, cash sales, invoices and the likes are still handwritten and the only computer we have makes number plates and nothing else!
So that ancient computer was the most modern thing that we had
