Got a really crappy old laptop running windows 98 or something.
Very limited resources available on it, so which would run happiest and still look pretty?

I think the above may be suitable but haven't tried it myself. Other than this I would have thought any linux with a lightweight Desktop environment would work. So avoid KDE and Gnome. Feather uses fluxbox for example.

Cheers for the quick reply, even though i've been looking for the laptop in question since to find out exactly which model it is, and can't find it lol

It's in a box "somewhere" :scratch:

XFCE is your best bet for desktop environment - have a look for xubuntu, I have a friend who's running that on a cruddy old P3 desktop

Memory is the biggest issue for that. 128Mb bare minimum.

I'm running Xubuntu in a VM, Kubuntu on a tablet at work and have a couple of Ubuntu vms as well. If you're willing to learn, you could always go for command line only, it would run absolutley fine :thumbl:
