I now know why these cards are at such a premium:

1) 65nm chip containing 1,400,000,000 transistors. Low chip to wafer ratio.
2) 'The overall processing power of GT200 has increased by 87.5% over G80.'

But they missed there teraflop target only hitting 933 :shock:

AMD have managed that feat though with there latest.

Chips yields are supposed to be absolutely shite

They actually perform at less than 25% faster than g80 series :P

Well if you look at the game tests, they get crapped on in most of the tests by the 9800 GX2.
And aren't they cheaperer?

Fair point, but let's reserve judgement until the next batch of drivers come out. I think, though, that waiting for a smaller process such as 45nm will pay dividends.

It did for CPU's but also created heat issues, did it not? :scratch:
