February 22, 2010 – CompactFlash Association announces availability of the new CF5.0 specification which adds new features for predictable performance & market expansion into professional video applications. With capacity up to 144 Petabytes and 32 megabyte transfer it may be possible to run a data centre off a Flash card? . :s

And on that basis Wired has worked out one CF Card Will Hold 200 Years’ Worth of Porn and defined the measurement "PornYear" which is equivalent to 0.94 petabytes.

Quote:
And on that basis n theory at least, version 5 of the CompactFlash standard will allow CF cards sufficient capacity to contain 2.7 million hours of HD video (two centuries’ worth of the porn industry’s annual output) or more than 7 days’ worth of AT&T’s daily traffic. With that kind of storage, you’d only need five CF cards to stash all of the data currently stored on all the hard drives in home computers in the state of Minnesota. (Data comparisons courtesy of UCSD’s 2009 How Much Information? study.)

Looks good in theory, not sure we'll ever see one though.

Being as there are only a few decent moments within a porn film, I doubt you could actually fill that, without using all the boring bits.

*knock knock*

It would extrordinary geeky to say that each Isolinear chip in Startrek holds 2.15 kiloquads, with a kiloquad being a fictional unit it has been theorised that a kiloquad is 1000 (kilo) * 1 quadrillion bytes, so each chip is a total of 1000 petabytes, so I wont.
