which function key do i hit on startup to access the nice screen where you can monitor temps, change fan speeds et etc ?

Depends on your motherboard, usually says along the bottom as it's booting up before Windows kicks in.

of course, most of the time it only displays that screen for a second or two...
delete is it usually...the one that really jumps around is boot selection menu
