i have a perfectly legit copy of xp home.. it's a very old copy at that
no sp's on it, probly about 5-7 years old cant remember..
I turned my pc on after running memtest86.iso
it said, since you installed windows the hardware on this pc has changed significantly and therefore you must re-confirm your product key / reactivate windows or whatever..
so i type in the code..
and it says..
"according to our records, the number of times you can activate windows with this product key has been exceeded, please enter a diff product key and press enter"
waaat????
????????

choose the option to phone activation services on the freephone number.
Enter in the number it gives you and it will give u the code to activate it

Just happens sometimes, usually some girl with a Scottish accent just reads you a code out that you enter, have a pen ready though.

reallly last 3 times i've done it some really bored indian lass but nvm..

hmmmm so straaaange
i rang them up because the activation failed first time around with the above message...
he read out the number and i pressed change key at the end, he said i shouldn't have done that ooops.. he said i would have to restart windows.. anyway, as soon as i clicked off the wizard i got a blue screen of death... which are happening frequently just recently 
anyway, when windows loaded up and i tried to activate over the net again, it said activation successful....hmmmmm _________________ ----------------------------------------
