EDIT: Did it buzz and whirrr as tho windows was loading but u couldn't see it?

What Power Supply hav u got? Did u upgrade it.

How much RAM is in? How many sticks? What type? Which slots? If the board is dual channel...u need the sticks in certain slots. Look in the manual and check ur configuration.

Ah right, yeah the computer whizzed and whirred as it usually does when it boots up.

The PSU is a Thermaltake Silent Butterfly 480W which I bought last year... I have to admit though it has been maiking some loud noises lately, before the uprgade and i think it's time for a new one.

I got two RAM sticks of DDR 184pin 512mb, One is in the Blue A1 and B1 sockets, as it should be for one Gigabyte in Dual channel mode.

Right. Card out. Onboard VGA enabled. Boot to safe mode. Unistall all V Card drivers. Power off. Onboard VGA back off. Card in. Reboot. Cross fingers.

I'm not sure it's the card to be honest, I forgot something pretty important.

Whenever the the monitor hasn't flickered into life, the keyboard and mouse were also unresponsive, as in the caps lock, num lock ect lights never came on when you pressed those buttons, and the red laser on the mouse never turned.

Plus Last night I was playing Oblivion for 6 hours straight on high GFX options, and the same with Call of Duty 2, no problem at all. My computer works like a dream when windows loads up, so I'm betting it's the BIOS, since thats the only thing that usually stops it loading up.

I'll try the removing the GFX card if these 4 or so ways of updating or restoring the BIOS doesn't work.

Try using just 1 stick of ur RAM too. What type is it? Is it Vendor approved for the board.

If that works. Try putting both in...but reverse their positions.

Also, in ur BIOS look for the following option and doublecheck it is set to

Advanced Chipset Settings -> Primary Graphics Adapter. It should be PCI-E VGA.

Now it doesn't even boot up.

I replaced the components and reset the BIOS.

When I reset the BIOS, I turn on the coputer and nothing loads up as it see. I've noticed the the power light and yellow light (Diska access light I think) don't flicker. The computer just turns on and nothings happened.

OMG what a prize pain in the A this is :(

So with just the onboard graphics enabled u get no picture!! Can u get access to another PC and swap components? Ideally try the RAM in theirs and theirs in urs. Could be a brand mismatch with this board.

Hmm, I've managed to get it booted up again, no idea why it decide to work.

I've been reading through the forums for this mobo on the ASUS site, and everyone who has the same problem as me, have pretty much been told to return the board due to a faulty BIOS chip. :|

I'm going to try to update the BIOS through windows, it won't let you do it any other way. See if anything good happens, I really do not fancy taking this system apart.

It turns out in the end that I ordered a AV-VMSE, but they gave me a AV-VM which would of been nice, except for the previous problems. Anyway I return it claiming it had a faulty BIOS chip, and they replaced it with a new AV-VMSE

So I got this system all built now, reinstalled windows and everything else and it's working perfectly fine now, no problems at all. :D

But cheers for the help anyway.

Just a question, is AMD cool 'n' quiet any good, is it worth enabling?
