Turned my computer on this morning, a little balloon popped up from the toolbar saying that my AVG is switched off. Fine, click to open AVG and it takes ages to load up.. When I finally manage to open it up, I notice that my update manager is in 'red' therefore turning off AVG/its firewall. Again, the program is really laggy, have to wait a minute once I've pressed a button for it to respond.
Its just about to update and then windows closes the program, stops the update and gives me a error report

If anyone runs AVG on the system, do you ever get this??

I've got a spare edition of *Jesus*Norton anti-virus*Christ* which I'm wary of putting on my comp until I get any credible answers.

Any ideas?

Switched over to Avast! and it works brilliantly

i think the free edition of avg only has a limited time in which you can use the active shield, it must have run out of time? :?

i used to use avg aswell but i now have nod32 which is the best i've used so far :)

i'll pm you ;)

Only use AVG's free anti vir. No problems - did you install the pro version or something?

If in any doubt, install Kaspersky with their 30 day free trial.
That'll tide you over nicely until you've checked your comp, and reinstalled or switched to another Anti Vir.

I remember i swapped to Avast a long time ago, but there's a reason I chose AVG and I came back to it (top 5 free Anti Vir, AVG always ahead of Avast!).
I don't use their firewall though, Comodo all the way ;)

hmm :?

i've never had problems with it but then again, i wouldn't notice if it had  :?

one of the main reasons i use this one is because it doesn't ruin your computer by using half your cpu and half your ram in basic screening mode

might not be the best but it's the one i like best from all the ones i've tried :) (and cba to change again either :D)

if anyone else wants kaspersky though, i can sort it out ... :)

False positives do occur, it happens - although that's probably the best one i've heard

However, never met an anti virus product that just deletes :o Usually they require user input into what action to undertake, I'm sure most do...

So did you click on delete

How users are supposed to find the site without their usual interface though :P

it all happened so fast and because of the dodgy update everytime i said explorer.exe was
ok, it had other plans and got deleted (by me) in the confusion

Ctrl&Alt&Del >

was well impressed with myself when i did the above,
just guessed it all and thought,
OMFG I'm a G33K
