fair point.....
but the tft's and the laptop screens you have seen are poor by comparison to todays tft's. the samsungs do have a very wide viewing angle, i suppose its what you're used to

Footprint (usually ) and power consumption
Looks like the Herr Doktor is onto a winner there, aside from it costing £350 and your budget being $350! Ah, well

I got this monitor
hxxp://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=306235
The quality on it is very good, and also it takes up hardly any space on my desk (main reason I actually brought it) also has an 8ms response time
Another reason why people choose TFT is they don't give off radiation

Yes, but modern CRT are well shielded.
Office workers in USA (where else?) actually sued their employers after allegedly getting brain tumours from staring at their monitors. The theory was that the monitors' screen alignment was set up so that some of the electrons were missing the phosphor and striking the metal casing, leading to X-ray emissions.

lol - I once was told by a Samsung designer that they emit more radiation out the back, than the front

Anybody know if digimate monitors are any good?
Quite a good selection at http://www.aria.co.uk, and seemingly good reviews, but the main thing that concerns me is that most of the reviews I have read seem to be from aria staff..............
Pretty cheap though, 19" with DVI input for about £140

there is a 17" version out there, somewhere and as for radiation from the rear (usually wind, but it will pass ) saves 'avin the op
