LG GSA-E10L External 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter
*Unless you really want lightscribe, I wouldnt bother, just something else to cause problems.
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional 7.1 Soundcard
*I've seen a few reviews where they don't think the extra price for the fatality is worth it, I think they tested it against a stock x-fi audio card, and found the improvements minimal.

lose the additional cpu heatsink, unless your gonna overclock no need for it. all intel cpu's come with a nice heatsink.
agreed with tao, unless u go for the super dooper x-fi one (cant remember what its called) differance in minimal compared with a cheapy, really depends how good ur speakers are and if u play alot of wavs or mp3's etc...
nice choice on the rest of spec tho, if u can stretch finances to cover a quad core cpu its worth it in the long run, its overkill for any software atm but maybe in a year or so u might be greatfull for that little extra umpfh.
I dont see any advantage of vista atm, im still using xp and everything works great with a much lower O.S idle rate. if you are gonna go for vista its got to be home premium

just revised my choices with thanks to your comments.....have I missed anything ?

keep the comments coming, I am very grateful.....
although will be getting the company to pay for this ( and I will re-imburse ) as essential selling tool......although its my company at least the VAT can be flooded back to the company..

you could just get a oem version of windows vista. if you don't intend to upgrade straight away.
nice choice though.

ooo nice screen, incredible response time. all the wires will come with mobo hopefully, all ur gonna need connection wise are a couple of SATA cables for HDD and optical drives.
i personally much prefere setting up everything on SATA as i find IDE can be old, cables get in the way and its a general pain to do. go for a SATA disk drive if you want

will I need to buy extra cables...???
*You shouldn't do, I ended up with an excess of cables with mine.
although will be getting the company to pay for this ( and I will re-imburse ) as essential selling tool......although its my company at least the VAT can be flooded back to the company
*heh i'm doing that, capital gains ftw.
As for the case if your worried about case noise, I really recommend the antec P-180 case, (although I think theres a P-190 case coming soon). Its very very quiet.
As for the heatsink, I have a big hetsink on mine even though its not overclocked (maybe later), the one thing it does do though is again keep the pc very quiet. So it depends on wether your bugged by noise or not.
The main issue I remeber with the graphiocs card was that you were paying mainly for the uprated memory on it, but that they didnt think it made enough difference to game fps to make a difference, as far as I know there were no issues with differences in sound.
edit I grabbed an oem x-fi audio for just under 30 quid. Sounds excellent.

the 900 case isnt loud at all (unless fans are on full) and you wont need to ramp the fans up because the airflow is amazing even on the lowest settings.
i wouldnt bothe with a sound card as you can get a good mobo with 7.1 hd audio.
the only reason you would get a quad core is for benchmarks.and they are not true quad cores anyway (2 dual stuck on top of each other basically)
i didnt see how big you screen was but if you want high resolutions you will need a gfx card with more memory, like and 640 gts/8800gtx.i would go for gtx if it were my money.

find a 965 motherboard, they're better than the 975s (for some reason - check the benchmarks on tomshardware.co.uk)
nice psu
and yeah, see if you can bump up to the 640mb gfx at least.
