Post subject:  photoshop dds texturing problems

i'm trying to make a simple retexture for a katana (in oblivion) but whatever i do the texture doesn't come up right :?

in photoshop it looks good, but when i preview it when it's assigned to the model (in nifskope) the hilt and scabbard look like crap :?

i'm saving it as a " 8:8:8:8 ARGB (32 bit)" dds (with the nvidia dds plugin)

oh and for some reason i had to delete the alpha map (was already there in the original texture) because it couldn't export 5 channels :? (rgb, r, g, b, alpha)

(and sometimes photoshop screws up and everything i save looks like it's inverted and saved as a gif :? only restarting photoshop helps in this case)

any ideas on how to solve my problems? :? :(

photoshop: here
preview in nifskope: here

thanks

Is it stretching the image to fit the scabbard/hilt or something? It looks stretched imo, but I know about as much at modelling as a donkey with piles and a sore throat.

it isn't stretched, and i just took a look at how it would appear in the actual editor and it looks fine in there :?

i don't know why nifskope would only show a couple of parts correctly and others completely distorted :?

i guess one problem's solved :) :?
