Post subject: | Problems after New PC build |
Hey Guys, Litterally just finished building my Dual Core AMD rig, I have installed and updated CSS through steam etc but now when I connect to the game it works fine for about 10 seconds then hangs then goes again for 10 seconds then hangs. almost like lag but my pings are fine as is my connection. I backed up my Css folder before I reinstalled steam but this does'nt help at all. Any help would be appreciated, I just started a game and promtly tk's staright off cos one minute theres a ct there (I was T) then the next minute I had tk'd one of my own (Sorry mate) Its almost like the game has crashed but then it clears then it crash's again.. Thanks in advance for any help, gonna try grfx card drivers when I find my original cd. |

I have found that the same thing happening actually, I haven't waited long enough to see if the "crash" recovers though. I usually power cycle straight away. I have been using my X2 for a long time (since they came out) and this only started happening recently so this lead me to believe the problem is based on a recent update. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future patch. I would like to hear from others on the problem though. |

I had a problem similar to yours when I changed my GFX card from Ati to Nvidia. Basically I think Windows got confused about the whole incident, an everything was fine after a reformat. Ye say you you used backed up files?I'm thinking CS:S has got confused about your new component setup, maybe a fresh install of CS:S? |

I tried uninstalling everyhting then starting again, now I cant even see the game server. Will reformat again cos I am still getting to grips with the Asus board I have also just fitted. Also I have just found out that the onboard HD soundcard was enabled without any drivers, may have confused my Audigy card. Gonna start from scratch and see what happens. Back soon guys and thanks for the pointers. Take Care |

Not sure what board you have buddy but downloaded the AMD X2 driver from the AMD website and all seems much better. I gave the Logitech G15 Keyboard that displays the workload on each core of the CPU, with this new driver installed I am now only using one core at a time instead of a bit of both. The driver tells windows only to use the second core when needed which it seems to be doing. Just waiting for CSS to be unlocked etc then will see of this sorts it. Will post links up in abit for anyone else thats having this problem.. |
