Up to 300W per card for Directx10 video cards and need to have there own power supply. leading to 1000W psus
What happened to the Intel/AMD performance per watt fight. Both Nvidia and ATi are heading this way. Is this because of microsoft or are the just putting the gpus that will support D10 in a rubbish way. How can AMD come up with a 2GHz 3800 X2 rated at 39W. You could have eight of these babes from 300W.
Its not making sense and I am a little dissapointed

i personnaly see it as, if u get a 300watt supply soley for your gpu then surly you can live with 250/300 watt just for the other components?

I bought a PSU for SLI, but decided I wouldnt get it (money as apposed to ridiculousness of it all)
So I've got a 580W PSU. That leaves me 280W for everything else, So I think that should suffice.
GFX cards tend to be the most power hungry thing nowadays.

What he meant was, rather than worry about the total wattage instead scrutinise the max current draw on each rail (or the max wattage, it's just proportional). Some 400W PSUs are much better than say 550W models because the power is distributed differently across the rails. Usually it's the +12V that gets hammered first, especially with newer A64/Pentium setups.
