Best take a look at the Dell website mate. There are cheap laptops at the likes of PC world etc but you really do get what you pay for.

Dell is my recommendation mate :D

I would look at a Dell Inspiron 6000 tbh.

EDIT-

Ive just put together one for £828.38.

Inspiron 6400

Intel ® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, FSB 667 MHz)
1024Mb RAM
128MB ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1300 graphics card, PCI-Express x16
80GB (7,200 rpm) Hard Drive.
15.4" W Screen XGA TFT Display resolution: 1280x800.

Try this for a decent branded one.
You'll get it online within your budget.

Dell are a lot stronger in laptop market than desktops.

I would get a Tosh personally, but for £800 you might just be able to afford the floppy drive

in my opinion, toshiba or Hpcompaq are the way to go, they have the best laptops and offer better support to business customers than Dell, the techra or satellite series are really good from Toshiba, and Hpcompaq are just as good, althoughyou a lot of extra goodies with Hpcompaq machines

If you want any form of after-sales support, or even assistance buying one, avoid the Dell stuff
