Tis what I'm looking for, a really cheap laptop that only needs enough power to run a media player, an instant messaging program, and maybe Alpha Centauri. I guess the most important issue is ram and battery life...but I only really need it in different rooms in my house, and not to play games on. I'd even consider second hand...as long as it works...oh and I need a wireless lan thingy in it too.

Preferably not the size of a desktop PC and from the 80's.


So any recomendations?

Are there better brands to buy when getting second hand and what should I look for?

sony and acer last the longest in build quailty

that dell will last you 9 months (heavy use)

and toshs....

but sony lasts the longest

My brother bought my mum a Dell laptop from ebay for around £100. ATM its got windows 98 on it, but it would work with XP. You'd have to have a really old laptop that wouldn't support a media player
