Would you concider getting a 64 bit machine?

It might be better and good for future proofing.

Mate of mine got a decent 64 gaming rig for £900.

Latest amd processor and everything.

Rig on the dell site looks pretty cool anyway it would serve you for a good while :P .

build your own....£800 got me a rig that can play fear at high at 60fps, and COD2 maxed out, built in much less than the time it takes to order through dell

dells aren't gaming PCs, whatever they put in them - they don't understand cooling, and they're noisy as buggery (i'm sitting next to one)

plus theres lots of hoohaa about the warrenty and software (if you replace the mobo, none of the OEM software will work i think)

Dont waste your money on dell

yeh i would recommend building it can be up to £200 + cheaper than simply buying. I bought my PC from pcworld (grrrrrrrrr) and i kinda regret it as i've had to put an extra gig of ram and i'll probably have to put in a new graphics card to replace this poor 6200SE

also i built my bro's pc and it's not as hard as it seems kinda like a more modern mecanno set

oh btw that link is dead

rite well i'm thinking i will build it then..

so when i finally convince my dad of a sum of money i will ask for people to help me choose some hardware as i'm not clued up on what is leet and value for money.

i Reckon between £600 - 900

but i reckon more 700-800 max is as far as my dad will be willing to spend.

don't worry mike £600-800 will be plenty for a really decent pc. you'll get plenty of advice on here on what to buy and what to ignore.

you should try overlcokers.co.uk and go on there forum post a message saying "i've got £700 to spend on pc" and someone will spec you it from their website good for n00b builders
:P

as mentioned in another post, recently CustomPC mag (issue 034 July '06) ran an article on 'How To Build The Best PC For Your Money' 'twas very interesting indeed

£670.14 spec

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (very overclockable)
MSI K8N SLi-Fi
7900GT gfx card
1 Gb Crucial PC3200
160Gb maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10
generic 500w psu
chieftec tower
stock cooling
onboard AC97 sound

reckon the above spec is jolly decent

8) 8) 8) 8)
