Ok, so to stop me having to have my noisy old computer on all the time with internet sharing, i've got a wired broadband router the networking is fine, the modem is fine, the adsl connection (after an hour waiting for BT to answer the phone and then to find out they had my wrong details in the end anyway ) is fine, but i can't actually get onto the internet... i know it is connected, as the ADSL and the ppp lights are all on on my router, and the internet tests appear to be working. I've set up the computers using the wizards (small office network, this computer connects through a residentail gateway etc etc etc) but it aint working - it just won't show owt in Firefox... help much appricated =[ |

you dont need to use the network wizard to connect the 2nd pc to the net, only if you want to share files. I assume you ran the new connection setup in program/accessories on the newer pc and is the network icon in your system tray actually showing that you are not connected? |

at the moment i'm connected through my old USB modem I'm connected to the netork (i can ping each computer using the router, and access the router on each computer), and the network icon says full connectivity |

incase anyone else comes acrooss this problem, you need to turn on NAT (its an option on ADSL routers) then u will be able to get internet. I had this prob with a linksys and once I ticked enable NAT my net started workin |
