got a new CD drive as my other 1 refused to do anything right (and eventually packed up) this one has light scribing built in... but the problem is... it wont let me set up the light scribing part of it. i have installed the programs that came with it, updated it all... and still no joyo i have been through the manual, and then went to the help files, only to find in the help files there is no instructions on how to set it up and the manual isnt exactly the most detailed thing. all it says is "load program", "extras", "lightscribe" and THATS IT! it dont even tell u how to get it working to start with any ideas? |

its made by philips... there not really good with manuals anyway manual: Quote: start "nero startsmart". choose "exra" and "print lightscribe label". coverdesigner open. choose "file" and "new"/ choose "empty document" and "ok". you can import a picture to fill the complete surface of the disc by double clicking on the working area. click on "file". choose you background image and click "open". click "ok". click on the "text box tool" to enter text. if you only print text, the disc will be printed faster. draw the area where you want to add the text. the programme will bend this to allow faster printing. doublt click on the text area you just created. insert the text and click "ok". this is how the background and the text will look. "alternatively, you can also position a picture where you like on the disc area. click on the "image tool". choose your image and click "open". position the image so that it looks nice. you can add text like in steps 8-10. when finished designing your label, choose "file" and "print lightscribe label". choose the print quality. you can see a preview and start printing. insert a lightscribe disc, the label facing down and click "ok". the disc is now printed. you may be asked to update you lightscribe application when this is required to ensure good printing quality. click "to download the latest lightscribe host software click here". choose "open" and click next until the update has been installed. after the installation. you will have to cancel the print process (save your design) and start again. its THAT detailed... that was word for word... what kind of help is "not click ok" and "the disc is now printed" from a manual? took me 5 minutes to copy... takes me longer to start my computer up peice of crud comes to mind... |

Youd be better off getting Nero or something else... TBH - it takes ages to burn a lightscribe label, 30 mins or so for low quality. |

ok then, i only ask 'cos i have it configured differently, as it became apparent there was a conflict with nero 7 and windvd 7 (in mho windvd is far better than nero showtime) as a result i then reconfigured the program without showtime and i can now watch dvd's using windvd. soooooooooo.................... maybe if you uninstalled all the gubbins that came with your burner and then just try and use nero for scribbling just a thought and good luck |

soooooooooo.................... maybe if you uninstalled all the gubbins that came with your burner and then just try and use nero for scribbling just a thought and good luck i had nero 6 installed (think it was 6 anyway... might have been lower) but when i finally installed my CD drive and FINALLY got round to making sure it worked, i isntalled nero to overwrite the previous version. which it did... so i tried the light scribing. but it didnt work so i uninstalled, deleted everything i could find to do with nero and then installed again (6.6) and the light scribing still isnt working... |
