Nearly all OEM graphics card manufacturers use shitty sleeve roller bearing fans, and they all die pretty quick. You could buy a replacement for a few quid and see if it works, before sticking down £300+ on a new card. |

as i said before its not my money paying for it its my dads, so its easier to get him to buy a new card for around £100 than telling him that all you need to do is replace the fan. |

I don't condone dishonesty, especially from own family. Whatever you choose though I suppose. |

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/productlis ... roupID=331 To be honest, you'll get a decent 6600 for £100, or a cheap 7600.. Or go for ATI - I have a Saphire made 9800 pro, tis around 2 years old now, and a good card. I seriously doubt I'll update this side of Xmas... http://www.microdirect.co.uk/productlis ... roupID=330 Get an x1600 or x700 or something. You don't, however, mention if you are AGP or PCI-E, but if you are only going to replace a 6600 with... a 6600, then it's a much better idea to try and replace the fan. You may not like the idea, but then in another 6 months you can pick up a better card for the money you would have spent on a replacement 6600!! Also - what's the warrenty on the card, if it's within it, then send it back to be sorted. |
