my new flat mate brought with him a external hard drive from aussie land. its a fancy one in a silver box, with a USB2 cable and power lead. when i connected it to my puter it said USB device not recognised, so i asked him to grab the driver disk, which he subsequently discovere was cracked :S. so my first question is there a generic driver that would magically make it work as he doesn't know the manufacturer etc... secondly if that doesn't work, will it be easy to connect it to the inner guts of my machine, confident enough with the physical connecting but not sure about setting things up in the bios with regards to master/slave |

If you are on a XP/2000 box, you probably wont need a disk, let it use one of the inbuilt drivers. If you try it in your PC internally, set the jumper on it to CS first. If no joy, set it to Slave. |
