Right as all of you know for the last year or so when im playing css i tend to warp alot which some of you have said its because im on a wireless network, But when i first started playing css on my dads connection which is wireless i never had any problems
I thought at first i could of been the connection i was using cuz after falling out with my dad i had no choice but to leach of 1 of my neighbours and the singnal was only just in range. But recently ive been allowed to use my dads connection again and ive still got the warping. Ive done a full format (twice i might add)and ive changed my firewall and virus software. Ive even played the game with nothing running to see if that would solve the prob but still no joy.
If any of you have any ideas as to why i get this plz help me cuz its affecting my game and i cant play properly.

the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is an ISP problem.

can you do the following at random times in the day and post the results back here?

ping cs.gamecommunity.co.uk -t (leave it going for say 100 hops) also do
tracert cs.gamecommunity.co.uk

if you see request timed out in the ping window, then thats packet loss, and could explain your warping. If these tests show nothing we need to look elsewhere.

Ok, I get the PRECISE result whilst playing any online game at the moment and it seems to be down to my ISP...

Reason being is that I was recently upgraded (which is total bulls**t) to a 4Mbit from 2Mbit... I currently only receive 2.5Mbits for the price of £25 (not on and I'll explain in more depth for this)

Not only do I not have the speed that I'm paying for (which isn't garuenteed I know, but I'm on Cable/DSL/NTL). Right, at certain times of the day I'll be getting 1Mbit and others I'll be receiving 2.5Mbit, but at about 3PM (when people aren't using is during the week) I'll get a 4Mbit connection. This is because of the stupid amount of people to one server that NTL assigns.

What happens with the online playing of games, is my ping will go from 30 - 400 meaning packet loss presumebly. This could be a result of the amount of people in my area using the internet, concidering my area has become very popular to NTL. Also people tend to look, see a good speed and sign up. (Not good for me)

What seems to be happening and I might be completely incorrect. Is that my bandwidth seems to be greatly fluctuating so it's affecting my ping like mad. But if I swap down to a less horded connection (2Mbit with NTL which isn't so popular to go for lately and has less users) I should recieve the correct speed, at max download speed and also my ping should be constantly effective and good to play at.

Hope this helps and if I'm wrong with my view of whats happening, please tell me so I can learn :P

EDIT: I also seem to get alot of packet loss lately (over the past month) meaning that webpages don't open quick enough to what I'm used to. Also making it impossible to play games online. Bad response.

SOLUTION: 50Cal. Rifle - Target: NTL Customers on 4Mbit connection. :twisted:

Mate you are not alone at all!

I am having the exact same problems!

I myself have been getting terrible packet loss. So phoned NTL numerous times. Already had one engineer out, did jack shit! Got another booked for monday and im told by NTL they WILL sort it!

So what did I get for my moaning
4MB half price for the next three months, and today they gave me this month free as well for the bother they have caused.

Their tech support is useless, I've tried to explain several times its an intermitant fault, but they wont listen and when the run the diag on my modem it reports as fine (because sods law is it will always work when they look)

They told me
a) is their fault...sorry blah blah
b) its your computer (ntl support guy even said he could access my computer THROUGH my router....wooow hes a good hacker)
c) its my router (cant be that changed it twice now)

so my advice ring up and moan like a biatch and you will get somewhere....o I should mention a couple of things. Firstly dont like paying for those crappy 0871 and 0845 numbers? Well here is a present.

01256 751046 (customer services, just like calling a house phone) or
0800 052 9403 (customer RELATIONS number, dont press anything when it says select and option, and you will get through to customer services)

Lastly check this out. This is probably why you are seeing terrible speeds and bad packet loss.

agreed if its done properly

but it obvisouly aint atm as lots of people are suffering from packet loss

k, for those on ntl that havent heard, ntl recently got bought out, because of the way it was done ntl cannot use the same inferstructure that they used too and as a result most of they traffic is now routed through amsterdam, including local traffic, this isnt a problem for browsing or downloading, but it is playing havok with gaming.
I'm not sure if its going to be sorted anytime soon
