Post subject:  External Sound Card

Err any recommendations? A few weeks back now I managed to break the headphone port on my laptop so that it only plays sound in my left ear. I recently bought a cheap external soundcard (Trust 5.1 External Surround Sound Card SC-5500p) because it was cheaper than the £70 to fix my laptop. But its utterly rubbish, the sound keeps dieing every hour of so on it, so i have to restart what every program I'm using at the time. It only cost me £20, so I perhaps should have expected as much. Also I reckon its a lil rubbish on the sound quality as well.

So yeh any suggestions welcome, and please bare in mind I'm a student and hence not made of money hehe.

Thanks,

PP

I've always found Edirol (Roland) are good quality (they are gimmick free though - just do the job well).
If you have a limited budget it may be pushing it at £70 but should be more than fine for what you want.:

or for sale here

cheaper options :

£20

£30

Can't recommend either of the last two. My mate tried the Griffin thingy (£30) as an emergency soundcard when his one broke and it is, in my opinion, a little unreliable.

good luck
