Post subject: | wlan adapter |
when i start up my aunt's laptop and enable the wlan it takes half a minute or so before it finally connects to the network i can live with that but after a while the connection gets stopped or something and i can't reconnect anymore either, i can still see the available networks but actually connect? when i use repair it says it can't disable the adapter even if i use the button on the laptop itself to disable and then enable it, it won't work the only thing i can do is restart the laptop after which i can surf online for another 5 minutes before it screws up again it's getting worse and worse, i had this a couple of times before but the last week or so it's becoming a bit to much it's an intersil PRISM 802.11g Wireless Adapter (3890) and i'm running norman antivirus and ewido anti spyware (don't know if they got anything to do with it but maybe it's over-using it's bandwith or something and fails? ) i downloaded new drivers for it but they're just dll's, cat, sys, inf and an ini file there was 1 exe in another folder but that didn't change anything (the date of update has changed but the version's still the same even though it should be a higher version) (i didn't have any problems whatsoever with my own laptop, and neither do the desktops) |

is the strength of the signal any good? |

it's on low but on my own laptop the strength was decent :/ if it was the signal quality then the having to restart before being able to reconnect wouldn't make much sense right? |

Try optimizing everything? And get rid of Norton, its too much hassle than its worth. |

optimizing everything? and it's my aunt's laptop, i think my uncle installed the norton anti-virus (think it's payed for etcetera aswell) so don't think i should uninstall it it does use up way to much memory though 3 processes of around 40mb each, on a 512mb ram laptop |
