heh just built myself a pc out of all the spare parts lying around.

its a

2.8 intel celeron skt 478 cpu
nvidia 5900 agp 128mb
aeron fun sound (super cheap £5 i think)
768 266mhz ram 3 x 256, mobos only got 3 slots
120gb ide drive
gigabyte - ga-8sgxlfs motherboard.

what would need upgrading to run cs a little better it gets around 25fps now just want it to be a little smooter as it lags when alot of action happens, dont care about graphics aslong as everythings low and its 1024x768 2xAA.

would this help?

Get that, £116. Spend another £20 on a case, and you should have the rest (HD, mouse, keyboard)

Now that ^ is faster than the machine im using at the moment, and I get around 70 fps or so. So you should be fine on that.


EDIT: Ok I miss read your thing, your after an upgrade?

Replace the 256mb RAM with a GB of RAM for 70 quid..

Thats all you need to do I think.

Oh and you cant get DDR 400mgz RAM as your computer doesnt support it I presume, just use PC2100 (266mgz)

Meh, I've go the specs your saying except the 512MB RAM and a XFXGeForceFX 5700LE

I plan to upgrade to:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz E6400
Corsair 2GB RAM (4x 512MB 667MHz) PC5600
Gigabyte P965 (Forgot model type, I'll check later SD3 or something...)
GeForce 9750GT or greater (depending on my budget flow)
250GB SATA/II HDD.
