did that couple of times..didnt work its fixed now just turned it on and it worked.. got another problem tho..well no so much a problem as something that annoys me.. my xp is messed up, not so much a bad thing as something that annoys me.. this morning i was on my comp when suddenly it just turned off..and for a while afterwards the internet wouldnt work..then when i went to turn my comp off usually when you press shutdown it comes up with a thing in the middle with 3 icons (shutdown, standby, logoff) but now instead it omes up with a bigger box with writing saying more things and i scroll down to find shutdown (is that not the old xp thing?) also when i turn my comp on it ask for a password now and i dont have 1,, so i just press enter but its annoying me having to do that.. any ideas how to get it back to normal? |

Ah yeah when you install service pack 2 it does that..or you've changed the way you log on and off. Are you the computer Administrator? |

go to configuration menu, users, "how users log on" either you can change it back to what it used to be or you have to use a fix (i had the problem a couple of times aswell) i suggest you google the fix or ask me for it if the latter's your problem (can't remember the name but i still have it somewhere on my hard disk upstairs) no idea about the turning off/internet problem though |

the fix it is then i used a program for it (it restores the original dll file), but apparantly you can delete a key in the registry to fix it yourself aswell xhttp://windowsxp.mvps.org/ginadll.htm found here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=nl&q=windows+xp+welcome+screen+problem+disabled&meta= couldn't find the program for it so you could try doing it manually or wait for the program? (remember to take a backup of the registry if you do it manually ofcourse, you never know ) |
