we just replaced the netgear router with the free bt hub we got because we need it for the new telephone

my brother is having difficulty setting up a wireless connection to the new Hub...it used to work with the router..

it says

acquiring network address, then doesn't .. and so it has 'limited or no connectivity to the hub with like a yellow explamation mark in the wireless window..

i've tried both the wireless software on his pc and the BT wizard on the disk to enter the WEP key in... its correct...and the SSID is detected by the wireless, the signal strength is excellent.. but it wont connect...

any ideas?

i have tried setting it to use windows to auto assign and under tcp/ip aswell ... no luck

I have a BT fusion wireless hub, to connect a new pc to it you have to press a button on the side to put the hub into a 'acquire' mode. This gives you five minutes to log the new PC onto the network with the WEP key. After that it'll be online permanently.

As I see it this is a security feature to stop roaming wireless users from latching onto and connecting to your network. Even if they have your WEP key they can't log on to your network unless it's in that crucial 5 minutes after you press the button on the hub.

Not sure if this is how your hub is set up - mine's over a year old - so best of luck and hope this helps.
