I just stipped the old server at work which sounds like a similar system. It was a Digital computer, a company that got sucked up by Compaq before HP got its hands on Compaq. Im guessing it weighs a tonne

I did a quick search on ebay for some of the compononets and the SCSI drives and RAM might be worth trying to flog on ebay.

tbh it wont be worth much and running it as a server, even though it will still be more than capable at many jobs, wont be that good for anything but as a filestore, standalone firewall or a test bed. You might want to chuck Linux on there or even a Win Server to help you out if your doing any networking at college. Set up a domain, play around with groups and OU's

Maybe give it to one of those charites that recycle comuters

Yeah they do weigh a tonne, i was having a look at them somemore today, they are IBM netfinity 3000 and a IBM netfinity 5000 (shows how much i've bothered with them they stood in corner collecting dust for a month now :D )

Sounds good idea Sleeper ty mate :D a think am going to wait another couple of weeks, as at college were starting to learn more about servers etc .. so hopefully I'll be able to recognise the internal parts a bit better and tell anyone interested what i have.

PS If anyone needs any parts they may have in them just PM me and I will see what i can pull out, it would be nice to do something with them but i just don't have much time. :(
