Hi guys, I would like to get a new monitor soon but not sure which one of these two I should choose. Which one do you guys think would be best for gaming? It has to be one of these two (or another HP LCD monitor) and the price diff. doesn't matter. If you have capable graphics go for the 24" init, 1920 is a lot of pixels to push around though. Personally I went for a 1680 22", best of both worlds. |

I'd recommend the 20" personally (never really did like widescreens either) but 8ms response time is good and all the other features that go with it seem just as nice as the other one. But yah, I'd buy the 20" not because it's cheaper 
EDIT: Also like Gmar said, lot of pixels to push.

the pixels to push thing shouldn't really be a reason to pick the 20" one you don't have to use that resolution in games you know
i run my tv at 1360x768 on desktop but in games it's quite a bit lower
(besides, it's not like 1600x1200 is a small resolution )
and i always wanted to stay with the 4:3 aspect ratio instead of widescreen aswell ... till i got my tv it really is handier, you got more room to put your windows (for instance director is easier to use because i can put all the seperate windows right next to each other instead of having to change between them because of lack of space) and for games it means you can see more to the left and right of you aswell so widescreen ftw 
if the price doesn't matter i'd go for the 24" one

i have a dell 24" same spec, and its worth every penny i could never go back to a smaller monitor. Also the 24" at 1920 x 1200 will do hd films as well if you have an xbox360 with the hddvd add-on |

Is there any reason why you will only buy one of these 2? The widescreen appears to be more of an office panel than a gaming panel. I'd buy neither for gaming. |

Specs is something like this: P4 3,40 with EM64T 2x512 DDR2-533 ECC (will prob. upgrade to 2G) 74G SATA/150 10k rpm GFX: Asus X800XT It's not a perfect gaming machine but it runs great without any problems. I would personally preffer the 24" if the comp. is big enough to make it run smoothly. |
