Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2 x 2.4Ghz 4Mb Cache 1066 FSB £222.07

Corsair XMS6400 2GB DDR2 (2x1GB) 800Mhz £198.57

Maxtor DiamondMax 21 SATAII 320GB 16Mb Cache <9.0ms 7200rpm £69.33

Sapphire X1950 XTX 512MB GDDR4 256bit £251.45

Jeantech Agua Midi ATX Gaming case £57.56

ENERMAX Liberty 620 Watt Modular Power Supply £107.82

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Socket 775 DDR2 PCI-E £104.58

LG GSA-H22NBAL Black 18x DVD +/-R/RW/RAM DL IDE OEM £27.02

Total £1,038.40

(Although I might have found a cheaper supplier to drop off £60~£70, not sure on delivery charges)

Anyways, thats the stuff I've looked up on and seems to be compatible, but I'm not sure if an SATAII HDD will work with that motherboard.

Another thing I thats making me wonder is if it's worth buying an 8800GTS for roughly the same price instead of the X1950XTX (stupid question, but worth asking because of the 8800GTX)

Any other flaws you can spot in the components I've chosen, please state and say whatcha think. But do be warned, I gotta budget and thats just the compy itself. ^ ^;;

Comments appreatiated, I don't wanna buy a system to be disappointed again. >.>

Also, if possible could someone state a reasonable Sound Card worth me buying. ^ ^;;

EDIT: Another item I'm interested in, is a decent heatsink+fan for the processor, I don't wanna use a stock fan and I wants the E6600 because it's standard 2.4GHz + 4MB Cache etc. :)

Midi ATX case, full ATX board, it isnt going to fit. need a bigger case.

SATA II HDD is backward compatable so no issue with the board, will just run @ SATA I speed (no great loss)

if you are gonna run vista (or upgrading soon) then i would get the GTS/GTX.

good spec otherwise.

Id drop down the 6600 to a 6400 and spend the diff on getting a 8800GTS, my new one is just sweet.

I have had no problems overclocking my 6300 up to 2.4GHz, all I did was up the FSB and made sure the RAM ran at its rated speeds. Was simple only 2 BIOS settings to change.

You pay alot for frontline technology.

I've always gone for the high end of the mid range computers. Seem to get most bang for your buck that way.

Cooling wise I'd go for arctic cooling. I have the arctic cooler on my cpu, stays at around 30c when I'm not doing much. Also have the arctic silencer for my GFX card, reccommend them both :D

Buy an antec p180 :D

I'll advertise this whereever possible :twisted: :D

Antec Fanboy...pfff

Oh, wait a minute.... :oops:

Its deffo worth getting a decent cooler for graphics cards, the one that came with my 7900 was noisy as buggery, but the zalman I have is near silent. Likewise processor. And yeah, save yourself on the processor, get the 6300 and OC.

Also see if you can find a Samsung Spinpoint - they're quite a bit better than the Maxtors.

Nice deal on that, but was hoping to get 2x 1GB RAM chips (matched) instead of 2x 512MB (Matched), also the RAM they are offering doesn't have reviews like CORSAIR, lol. ^ ^;;

Just re-read this post and I was thinking of getting the E6600, not only for it's spec, but overclock it further, or is this a bad idea? So far whats the best OC rate you have on the E6400 and hopefully your using this cooler.

Not sure when they are out but they have been announced. Some one posts a link here to a news site, they look like they will be even better than the 8800GTX (cue 8900GTXXXXX :roll: )

Yeah, and a hell of alot more expensive than my budget <throws idea out of the window> although the GTX might come down drastically. XD
