basically its playing music and films like at half speed and juddery anyone got any ideas?

it was fin then halfway through a movie i paused it and went and tested some stuff i'd been working on in game came back tried playing and it crashed then tried playing it again in both power dvd and media player and it kept doing the juddery thing.
