Hello all i have a question about my router and net connection.
We recently upgraded to 8mb from 2mb and ive tested this by just using the modem and im getting 7.6mb which is ok.
But when i connect the modem to the router, which is what it is like normally, i only get around a 1.5mb connection.
My router is Draytek vigor 2200 USB.
Is it possible to have a 8mb connection with this router?

do you have to use your modem to plug into your router, if so thats silly

otherwise... plug in the router... and leave it shud be fine with up to 8mb

go to http://www.dsldepot.co.uk for a modem/router
get yourself a speedtouch 585 wireless router.... 30 quid inc delivery....says refurbished... but brand new..mainly discontinued stock.... (mine was anyway)
usb connections are crap on 8mb max upgrades.... cos when you turn your pc off..... bang goes your modem... and the line speed will drop.. and it takes 3 days minimum to get back upto speed...
this is because the equipment at the exchange thinks you have a line problem.... and drops the connection rate...
have a look on http://www.dslzoneuk.co.uk

Probably, but I suggest you check the support pages for that router, get the latest software drivers and firmware for it as adsl max isnt completely compatable with all older kit.

I looked it up with my dad last night, and I noticed the router I'm using that is designed for 512 connections so its basically not 8Mb compatible.
We've ordered a Draytek Vigor 2800 now which is hopefully going to do the job, its got a modem built in so that's less hassle.

Also allows me to have more control over the workgroup
