Post subject: | GFX card fails :( |
So i came in last nite to find my monitors off, as in standby mode, so i thought that the PC was in power save mode, so i movied the mouse, tapped the keyboard, nothing, hmm, somethings wrong i thought, so i checked the cable was in both monitors(i have 2) and still nothing, so i turned my PC off and back on again and nothing, no display on either monitor, this isnt good i thought, there are no motherboard beeps to indicate a faulty device and the GFX card fan is working fine, i thought maybe my PSU wasnt supplying enought power, so i hooked up a CD ROM, HDD and my GFX card, thats it, and still no display, so i thought maybe faulty RAM, tried switching RAM and still same result, so tell me, is it likely that a GFX card bought in september would just stop working? PC setup Core 2 Duo E6600 7950GT 512MB 4 GB corsiar 667 RAM ASUS p5n32 sli deluxe Creative XFI fatlity sound card 3 Maxtor HDD |

I'mma guess you haven't done anything to it before the problem occured? And have you tried the GFX Card in another comp and have you tried teh monitors in a different comp? Otherwise, like 3ilbo said, probs a BIOS issue, or worse, motherboard I'd guess.. o.o |

RTFM Either there's a jumper you need to swap, or take the battery out - It should say in the manual |

Aye, Bios should reportage of faultage. Pluggage GFX cardage into another compatage, and see what happenage. How old is it, incase, and is it still in warranty? Is it me, or do computer parts seem to die a lot quicker than of old? Kinda reminds me of vehicles between C-J register - which would rust to pieces within 5 years... built to fail. Don't trust things these days, parts seem to fail too quickly. We have a 10 year old PC that still works - no component failure yet. New ones though - lol. |

Not like you'll be able to Crysis on a Pentium 2 200mhz with 8MB of RAM and a 2MB GFX card though is it? Try the GFX card in another comp as mentioned before, But you can confirm that windows has started up and is operational, even if you cant actually see it (i.e makes sounds etc). |

Before you do that... have you got a higher resolution monitor? Someone or you... might have set the resolution much higher than your monitor supports. Try using a higher res monitor if you got one and see if that fixes it. When you have it connected, just turn the resolution down and refresh rate (if that is the problem) |
