:( thats a bummer. Generally it shouldn't be a problem, SATA compatibility goes forwards and backwards. The only problem you might come across with some the first SATA supported chipsets where you have to manually set the SATA II to SATA I speed. Depends on the age of the motherboard. Isn't SATA II different though and have a locking mechanism on the cable as well?

there is no such thing as a sata II specification....the 3gb/s and other things are just a modification to the sata specification....so any drive labeled a sata II drive will work with any sata connection, only you wont get the so called sata II features if you have an older motherboard.

i have 1 sata 2 HDD and 2 sata 1 HDDs, they are exactly the same in apearence just different speed.

and different power connectors...
the one i got had sata power connecter...... need to buy a sata-molex lead...... 90p... :lol:

SATA2 drives usually hand out a jumper for the older support of 1.5MB/s I thinks... well.. mine did. :P (Not that I need it :D)
