Post subject: | AGP Graphics card? or new Mobo + processor & PCI-E card |
Gone for 2 weeks when i come back my graphics cards has mysteriously given up, the fuzzy on-board graphics is hurting my eyes as i type this old graphics card is an X800GTO AGP card. i've got a hp pavilion with a sempron 2800 (2.0 GHz) processor. 1 AGP slot 3 PCI slots do I A) get a new AGP graphics card, if so what good cards can i get that are AGP. or B) buy a new motherboard with PCI-E slots and get with the times(which will also mean a new processor) If so, anyone recommend a good motherboard+proceesor at a decent price? AMD or Intel?? What do ye think? |

option A or B comes down to money. if you cna afford/justify it go for B amd vs intel... atm Intel is FTW (that hurts me to say, but Core 2 owns all) if you got with B then: http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=606928 http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=605915 i have picked from the cheaper end of things, but an E6300 or E6600 would drop in if you have the extra money. as for the board, thats a decend mid range board, but again you can pay more if you want more. as for gcard, well depends what you are looking for. http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=606498 is about the best bang for buck card, but there is DX10 to think about... Thanks shrek ye was considering DX10, i had planned on waiting for that before a new GPU but circumstances mean getting one earlier. Anyway, i'll be on XP for a good while yet i think so i won't worry about vista and DX10. i was actually just now thinking of buying a x1950 since it's once of the best AGP cards for a nice enough price. was then just wondering if the extra memory is worth the extra £25?? 256MB or 512MB? will it make much difference? |

Yes I'd go with the X1950XT AGP ,unless you can afford a new RIG . Good luck with the Upgrade mate |
