what is this process? when ever i restart or turn on my computer on of the svchost.exe is running at 100% for about 30 minutes and it takes ages for things to load any idea what it is making it run at 100%? i believe it is sound drivers but i have tried reinstalling different ones (after removing the last ones) and should there be that many of them? |

scvhost is anything thats connecting to the internet or something...or a service thats connecting to the internet....so its some program... run msconfig, have a look at the startup thingies and see what you don't need, deselect it... |

Afair some gets that after installing the latest patches - ms should have a hotfix out for it. |

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056 Basically each svchost contains a list of services to be run in windows, sometimes it can contain a malicious program like a virus, to check what services each svchost is running load command prompt and type "tasklist/svc" without the " marks and hit enter, then scroll to each svc task and check the services its running |
