do you mean youve tried the disk in other dvd players and there has been no sound then aswell? coz that would suggest that perhaps the disk is damaged.
Does the sound work fine from other software on your p.c?
the sound could be in a strange format if the dvd isnt a standard PAL regios 2 disk in which case you will need a codec plugin for whatever filetype the sound is

The DVD's that I have been using are basically all/any DVD's that I have.
They work fine in the DVD player downstairs being original disks and everything else on the pc is fine.
Already tried reinstalling WMP incase that was the problem, but still no sound.

Got the audio connector connected from the DVD drive to the mobo or sound card?

Could be a codec error, but not that likely as they are genuine DVDs.
What files are they?

Use VLC.
You might have to have a codec installed by installing a free version of WinDVD or something similar. Windows doesnt have the codec installed by default
