Anyone had this wtf moment with avi files where when you go to open them, they just crash? I've tried, reinstalling DivX Codec, different media players, and restarting my comp. The only player that works is VLC Media Player (ftw), but it crashes explorer upon viewing the files in a folder too.

I like using WinAmp or Media Player Classic to play my videos but this appears to be a no go. Any ideas on what the problem could be will be greatly appretiated.

(I understand why VLC plays them and others don't, but codecs don't appear to be the issue)

Thanks for the replies, but it appears it was actually a codec collision. Forgot I installed the K-Lite Codec Collection and installed DivX too.

Conclusion: I R NUB
