OK, so I got this new shiny PC and all was going well til it randomly rebooted to which I thought, "Oh no biggie".

Then it did it again, and again, and again.

You get the picture.

The times its done it I have been playing Black and White 2, Oblivion and watching a youtube video (so it's not just limited to gaming).

AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+
2Gb DDR2 RAM (running at 800Mhz)
Geforce 8600GTS 256mb
250gb SATA HDD
Windows Vista Ultimate - 32 bit

I looked at the temperatures, but they seem normal (hovering around 40 C).

So any suggestions?

go to.... control panel, system, start, startup and recovery, theres a checkbox that says automatically restart pc... uncheck it..

u shud start getting some blue screens of death next time it is supposed to restart

google the Hex code

like

0x0000008e

it may point to ram failure

in which case

download memtest.iso and burn to a cd

test the ram... then send ur pc back and get a new 1

if it points to nvidia display drivers... then it may be a driver issue, or a faulty card...

also check the temperatures of the card.. u want below 70

That reminds me, I think i does indeed to go a blue screen, however it only did this once and it was imeditaly after it froze, normally it'd be a good 10secs of it doing nothing and I'd jsut turn it off.

I'll try what you said and I'll see what happens.

*EDIT*

I canne find this checkbox of which you speak...

I just realised, the whole system freezes, not even the caps lock changes if pressed, that make a difference?

Just send it back, act like an idiot and complain that it restarts all the time. Its very inconvinient and your not happy.

Businesses don't like unhappy customers. They can lose alot of business that way. :P

If one person get bad service, their friends are told... get the picture?

If you stuck the pc together yourself, or have moved it recently, try just pushing all the cards in, had a problem on mine like that, think as it warmed it just loosened a connection.
