only 1gb of ram at moment too, doesnt like dual channel? even though it ws bouht as a matched set, meh least of my worries as long sa my 8800gt comes back!

*update*

bit of a noob question but are you sure the heatsink is applied correctly, mine wasnt for a bit the otherday cos i changed it and it was a bit loose, it would run for like 5 seconds then the safety would switch in and turn itself off. Exactly like you descrbe

well its working finer now, on it now.
ust be the gpu, the 8800gt wont run in my bros pc either, only had 1 6pins pci-e prong on the card, pc working fine with 1950gt in it right now.

getting it sent back to micso.co.uk there sending out another one to me when the've recieved mine, getting myself a 600 watt modular corsair psu too to help out.

my mobo is a msi neo2-fr, bios v1.2, 1.6 is available, might update jsut worried about updating mobo bios's.

*update*
Updated the bios using the msi live update from 1.2 to 1.6, totally painless and easy, hope it helps!

Usually it's too many device on the power leads to the gfx card, ideally you'd have dedicated power leads. At most you want nothing more than CD/DVD drives on the same leads. You need a name brand PSU as well, like Antec, Seasonic, Fortran Source - an unbranded PSU should be ripped out immediately and binned :|

Always use a branded PSu saw some reviews in custom pc that said that even some of the branded ones dont quite deliver what they claim to deliver, think they actually blew an unbranded one on the same tests.

Antec definetly good brand, although I am using a seasonic one at the moment and thats a good un as well.

TICKET #:133306JAMESHi.
Welcome to XFX-Live. How can I help?
MARK hi again james
MARK just wondering if xfx have recieved my gpu yet? i rang misco.co.uk and it was sent out to you on the 9th of jan.
JAMES will just check for you...
MARK thank you
JAMES no mark - sorry mate still not recieved it
MARK oh
MARK misco have told me they have sent it and tests were carried out on the 17th
JAMES did they tell you a reference number? for the consignment - the card would most likely have been in with others from them
JAMES they told you it was sent and has been tested?
MARK no they havent im afraid
MARK rtvrepg1798MARKthats a number they have from you
MARK on phone to them now
JAMES ixh309625 right?
MARK that number have any relavence
MARK thats the number for the ticket to suppliers?
JAMES that is the correct serial number ? ixh309625?
MARK yes
JAMES no record of that at all
MARK right
JAMES and that reference number they quoted is nothing like the ones we use
MARK oh
JAMES so are they giving you a new card or what?
MARK they lady on the phone is telling me its their suppliers that have sent it to you, for repair.
MARK shouldnt misco.co.uk just do a product exchange and send the manufacturuer the faulty item?
JAMES i dont know about that mark - thats not something we can get involved with as the card was sold to you by them - at this stage this has nothing to do with us. the card will probarbly arrive soon, can only suggest being patient -not much consolation i know
JAMES but at least you know its on its way
JAMES the reference they told you must have been their suppliers own reference
MARK but im on the phone to misco now, well their customer services and thier telling me that the suppliers to them have sent it back to you on the 9th and have confirmation of repairs for the 17th
MARK would the ticket numbers be differernt? this is my ticket and theirs is seperate?
MARK just their telling me they sent it to you and have record of it on their system and you have no record of it
MARK so maybe its jsut mixed up ticket numbers? i don`t know
JAMES the numbers are seperate and different - your ticket reference is related to you - not the product
MARK i do see, so even if you did recieve it it woulded show on the ticket
JAMES yeah
MARK right
JAMES might just be a returns number mix up, im sure its nothing to worry about
MARK i do hope so, ones things for sure i wont be using them again, spent £180 before christmas on my 8800gt and still havent got it, i could maybe get the money refunded and get the 8800gts 512 now,.
MARK thanks again

ul mate

When I had to return someting to what was then Simply it was a total pain in the arse. They stuffed it up in ways that a simple return and credit shouldnt do.

Seasonic PSU is my advice. They are the most effiecient and my 500W powers overclocked quad core, 8800GTS, soundcard, 3 drives 2optical drives, couple of fans and never misses a beat.
