Did you build it yourself? If so, did you get a handbook with the motherboard? They usually contain a troubleshooting guide for when this happens...

Otherwise, best to go to the manufacturers site and look for any support topics etc there. There may be ones that deal with issues such as yours.

I got annoyed at the odd glitches with my p5ne and replaced it. LAN port that couldnt work out whether it wanted to work or not, complete inability to overclock a Q6600, having to use teh yellow ram slots for stability.

Always felt the motherbaord ran far to hot and was inefficiently cooled, it definatley needed an active fan on the northbirdge.

Always lots of problems on the asus forums to do with this board, actually every asus board on there seems to have its problems and so I moved away to gigabyte. The 0608 BIOS seemed the best for the asus.

**** Edit ****
Not got it back yet, that sucks, id be on the phone everyday.

If your in London we could do a deal on a lend for mine sitting here, It does work despite me replacing it

basically the heatsink wasn't on properly, the chip was completely burnt out apparently, being sent off to intel cos it should have shut down when it got so hot so it may be a slightly faulty sensor or summit. So possibly will be under warranty.

But still, no gaming for atleast another month at the very very least, and then i'll probably have to fork out another 130 for a new CPU

Get a decent PSU now to protect your valuable parts, even if the current cheap one isn't faulty.

So we put the new CPU in but when we did theres was loads of lines and dots over the BIOS screen and it said the CPU was not supported. So we flashed the BIOS up to the version that supports the CPU (E8200) and it still has all these lines and things over the screen, it goes to boot into vista then BSOD's saying something about a display driver timing out, so we run it in safe mode and it boots fine but still with these horrible lines all over the screen.

My first thought was that by flashing the bios we got rid of the installed drivers, so i DL'd the latest drivers from Nvidia for my gfx card and installed em no problem but when i restarted exactly the same thing happened.

I've taken out the gfx card and put it back in, same with ram etc

any ideas?

Simple thinsg first, have you got both power cables plugged into the grphics card?

Could the graphics memory be borked with what happened to in the original failure?

Yeah the two power connectors are in fine
And vista recognises that its a Nvidia 8800GTX in the hardware section in safe mode.
