Post subject: | Sound completely distorted when recording with WeGame/FRAPS |
Right, anytime I record a game with FRAPS or WeGame, the audio is far too loud, distorted and just plainly unbearable. Here's an example of the video: http://wegame.com/watch/Cod_4_test_2/ I have a Realtek ALC888 Integrated Audio chip and the sound is set to 5.1 in Windows and COD 4. I've tried turning down the master recording volume, no luck. I switched the settings from 5.1 to 2 speakers in Windows and COD 4 (and restarted Windows before trying), still no luck. I can't turn down the stereo mix, I've no idea why. Here's a pic of all of the volume tabs at the time of recording: ![]() Any help would be appreciated. |

FRAPS records from Stereo Mix, which is "What U hear" on creative sound cards. I can't turn down the stereo mix volume, as you can see from my previous post. Settings are the same as the pic you've shown. |

2nd daft question, why are they muted on the recording control? |

No idea, but they make no difference if they're muted or not. Even turning down or muting the master record volume doesn't change anything. |

. actually meant what settings are available through that WeGame app but for the sake of it change the frap sound settings to 'use windows input' and you dont have both running do you? (wegame & fraps) apologies for all the daft questions, but it helps with the process of elimination ![]() ![]() ![]() on a video note, change your fps to 30 as you dont need it any higher than that, not unless you are actually doing it for some John Woohoo slow motion action with a starlight lens filter and some seagulls & change it to full size for better looking footage ![]() ask Hollywood Legend Ezer ![]() or browse this place for some pointers and the nominations for best director are.. |

Both aren't being run at the same time. Even setting FRAPS to use Windows Input does not help. ![]() Even setting it to HD mode doesn't change the sound. I have the sound to 5.1, but even setting that to stereo (in windows and cod4) will not help. |

tbh, its really bakin my noodle atm & i wished you lived down the road ![]() does it do this in any other game? the 5.1 is no good as the soundtrack can be done in the editing stage & afaik fraps doesnt support 5.1 the only other thing i would try is, i noticed the box at the bottom was set at default maybe this is the key (clutching at straws i know) ![]() PM SENT 1 last thing, i was led to believe that COD4 had its own ingame recorder ![]() ![]() |

My version of FRAPS is real. I can't do anything with the default as the input. COD 4's recorder is a demo recorder, similar to the demo recorder in Source games. I've found out the problem for the really loud sound, the stereo mix volume has to be turned down. A bigger problem now arises from that; how the hell can I turn it down if the slider is greyed out, as seen in the first image in my first post. As I said before, I have the latest Realtek drivers. If anyone can help me turn down stereo mix, let me know. EDIT: If you haven't already, please watch the video. |

![]() have a look under the options tab & see whats available for recording and is there anything remotely connected to your sound in Control Panel or anything in Start > All Programs |
