Post subject:  Zalman 9500 AM2 heatsink installation!
Hi guys well ive finally decided that Im goin to actually start building/modding bits of my PC....but im a noob at CPU stuff.

Ive ordered everything I need and now anxiously waiting its arrival.......but one main question do I need an anti-static wrist thingymajig or is grounding my self through case etc good enough?(N.B. I hope to not actually have to remove the CPU itself if poss) Apparently installation is a breeze?

please feel free to smack me on the wrist if im doin something wrong.......just the internet guides havent been explicit enough in the need for this item.

Leave the PSU plugged into the mains but switched off at the wall, and touch the metal inside every now and then. That will ground any static in you.

If you want to buy a antistatic band you would need to clip is somewhere metal on the PC and keep it plugged in as before :grin:

You probably need to remove the motherboard, but not the CPU itself from its socket.




I have cuts on 3 fingers from fitting a Zipang cooler to my PC last night :roll:
