I disabled the network adapter "Local Area Network" being the NIC CAT5 connection a while back and now its bit me in the ass and disappeared completely from my Device Manager and Network Connections. ipconfig /all gives no joy either. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Tried "Add New Hardware" and like usual can't find the thing you want. I would reinstall the drivers if I could remember what ones they were (don't have a disc) and I've tried something like Aida32 to find out what it is... but it doesn't seem to appear there either.

When I plug the laptop into the HUB, the HUB lights up to tell me it has a connection, but the laptop doesn't show any indication what-so-ever (the laptop doesn't have LED indicators)

If you have any ideas other than "try adding another connection" then please do tell.

This is giving me a huge headache and I've run clean out of ideas.

guessing its on board LAN? if so you need the drivers, check the mobo model no which will be on the board itself then google it, you should be able to find the right drivers for the mobo. thats how i did it.

if all else fails you can get a pci network card for a fiver..

its his laptop... so cant put a pci card in it (that i know of) and getting to the mobo is quite hard...
