I want to put a webcam about 20 meters from my PC. Its will go through a small existing drilled whole in the wall so USB cable and repeaters wont really work. What I'm thinking of is using my current USB webcam: USB Webcam - USB to Ethernet adapter? - Router - PC Question really is can you really get a USB to Ethernet adapter? Or are there other ways of doing it |

Why not just splice the cable and extend it to the desired length? Sure it will be slightly more delayed but will that matter? And are you trying to peek on the gay guys next door whilst their at it again? |

And are you trying to peek on the gay guys next door whilst their at it again? Your talking a max of 5 metres recommended max for USB although it will go further. Something to do with timing issues I think. With repeaters I could still go down that route but I can't get the USB sockets through the wall, maybe physically cutting the cable would be the answer... happyslappy wrote: there is usb to either but the either will expect to talk to a ip network i should imagine - does the camera come with such abilities ? Yeah well I have looked, you can get IP cameras for around £100, WiFi ones are a similar price, just wondered if there was any cheap box you could by that could use an existing camera. Edit: Found something, not sure how good/compatible it is though... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ICAMView-IP-Server-Network-Camera-Spy-CCTV-Webcam-SC_W0QQitemZ160257378001QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160257378001&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Lemon =GCHQ= wrote: casp im really worried about you ;] Completely bonkers nuff said. |
