firefox not detecting internet on my dads pc ...suddenly

not a clue ....

its not set to work offline..

claims he hasn't done anything....internet explorer is working fine..so its not a physical connection

tried unplugging router and plugging it back in... a few times... works fine on mine... and on his IE so its not a physical connection problem... its software..

i tried

    uninstalling, reinstalling...

    logging in ... logging out... restarting computer...

    seeing if it is in memory (task manager) - isnt

    he has no firewall / anti virus software on that isn't the cause though... including windows not on...its disabled

    nothing has changed AFAIK...

    his network settings seem normal...

    i tried removing profile in app data..

    tried ccleaner

    ad aware - lavasoft

    tune up utilities08


wtf could be wrong with it???

i'll try system restore if no-one has any other suggestions

I had this issue and I just removed the profiles let it create new ones after a reinstall uninstalled my old Firewall which I thought was disabled and then restarted. Works perfect now. :S

rite it has become clear now that the problem stems much further than just firefox...

his poker wont connect
his download speed is extremely low....

i blame the router... gonna switch it around in a bit and check some settings out...
gonna try resetting the router/deleting the user on the router and see what happens...

erm yea the solution that worked.... was system restore 2 days ago when it WAS working....I have no idea what happened in between those 2 days !
