i could be the dumist or dimbist but apparently my new motherboard supports On board 6 channel ac 97 CODEC Supports optical S/PDIF In/ Out couple questions ....... will it support 5.1 suround sound speakers and wtf is s/pdif in/out thanks and im thinking about getting these.... any good? http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.asp?pn=970223-0120 |

and the s/pdif ones are ports which provide high quality digital in and output (to connect your speakers, etcetera to the motherboard) you'll need an optical audio cable to use those ports (like this one for example: belkin cable) |

no - its passes the sound to the amp to proccess rather than having the sound card proccess with S/PDIF |

i could have type that better looking at it again S/PDIF passes the sound to the amp to proccess rather than having the sound card proccess it freeing more of the system , you will notice it if you play 1080p stuff and your card is proccessing the sound as for links no sorry but this is the first link in google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPDIF |

many thanks for your answers ....... i think that connectionis for professionals / geeks im sure most modern computers are able to fully handle sound card and will deliver a good enough audio for me .................. interesting tho same saying as ever tho ... the more you learn just makes you realise there is so much more to learn |

Those will be a nice set of speakers also, I've got the previous version of them and they're fine. Actually got the sub on the desk....turn up and bass and it shakes. |
