Over the last few weeks i keep losing my internet connection more and more!

I am on aol and from time to time i lose connection then i get a pop up saying "network area cable 2 unplugged"

At this point the up and down arrows have turned yellow ,a minute later they are back to green and i can connect again .

Any ideas ???

Cheers

1. Have you upgraded AOL software recently?
2. Have you tried a different cable?
3. Can you switch between UTP and USB connection?
4. If you modem is powered from the USB port make sure power saving is switched off in the bios and Windows and try a differnt port etc. TBH its a stupid way of powering a modem! Get a new one!

Your modem and Network card chipset would help as well. Is the modem powered by the USB port?

im guessing you have one of the shitty wee blue bt voyager things?? the ones you plug in via usb (no ethernet or anything)

if soo phone up aol, tell them that yer router is knackered, demand (politely) that they send you a replacement or you'll switch to bt broadband or something. you should get a nice netgear router within a week or two.

i was having the exact same problem when i was using one of the usb voyager things, phoned em up as above, hey presto, new router, problem solved :thumbr:

I have noticed that between certain hours of the day my connection is fine, but out of these hours i cant hold a connection for more than 5 mins.

AOL told me all was fine with my line and the exchange.

Yesterday however,i stayed connected for more than 15 hrs non stop.

One thing i noticed different was the liddle up and down green arrows i have on my task bar had gone?

Today they are back and i am losing connection all over again!

Any ideas peep's

try plugging into another usb port..... could be the usb connection...
but usb modems are crap....
the up and down green arrows are just a dispaly..to show up and down connection...
could be a number of problems.... but those modems aint the easiet to diagnose...
take a look here at some reviews....
see if any of the problems match yours...

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews6179.html

and try this mezz.... see if you can get any stats off it to post...

Shoulda read this - should have called AOL and changed your contract to another package. When I down-graded from "Gold" to "Silver" (can't get more than 2Mb line, so why pay more for the same service? :D) they still sent me a wirelses netgear router :P

Unless you're on "Silver" (or whatever it's called these days) at which point meh :D

trying which browser? The AOL one?
Once your router is set up with AOL info in it, then you should just be able to use any browser. Try another?
